Multiple elements are found together, often with very similar chemical properties, making separation one of the most technically demanding stages of the supply chain. This challenge is even greater for heavy rare earth elements, where precision, selectivity, and process control are critical.

Why Heavy Rare Earths

Heavy rare earth elements represent one of the most constrained and strategically important segments of the rare earth supply chain. They are harder to separate, in shorter supply, and critical to high-performance permanent magnets, defense systems, aerospace applications, energy technologies, and advanced manufacturing.

Heavy rare earth elements are among the most technically challenging materials in the rare earth supply chain. Their similar chemical properties require advanced separation methods, greater precision, and highly controlled processing environments, limiting the number of facilities capable of producing them at scale.
